League roundup

27 July Update.

Plenty of drama in the league over the last few weeks, including the first loss for Strigoinometry. The Surrealists got their revenge after their 2-1 defeat in the opening games of the league to force a 1-0 win this time around against the Undead. Strigoinometry looked like they would equalise in the closing time of the match but a risky move too far for a ghoul opened up an opportunity the Elves couldn't resist. Coach Scrowe blamed the loss on not wearing his glasses. The two teams switched places in the league, the Undead down to 4th and the Dark Elves up to 1st place. "Rightfully" according to coach Scanham.

After a disastrous start The Wandering Warriors have climbed up from the bottom of the table with 2 straight wins. A controversial victory came during a game against The Squiq Lickaz, as the coach Tom realised he had too many players on the pitch in the second half and conceded! Uncharacteristic for an Orc and in other circumstances the game might have just continued, but the gentleman greenskin was adamant. There were no tricks in the Warrior's second win though, beating the Oxyl Ocelots 2-1.

The Ocelots are not having a great time of things. The highlight of their season so far have been a draw against the Squig Lickaz, but in a rematch the Orcs managed a 2-0 victory. It seems the Lickaz have finally worked out how to score and now have their first victory under their belt. But is it too late to get into the play offs?

Finally Chutney Hamper and the Phantoms squared off and managed a mighty 1-1 draw, though an interception by the Dwarfs almost gave them the win. A fairly bloodless game, it was too late in the game before the dwarf grinding play was able to have an impact. The Phantoms are now languishing towards the bottom of the table in desperate need of some wins.
